Summer Schedule JULY 15 – AUG 21 Mon-Wed 10 to 4
A space dedicated to your creativity with all the tools you need.
Turn your exploration into a music video, a 3-minute movie for our movie challenge, or a community service project. What you can do is limitless! You can even produce a documentary for StudentCAM or other festivals.
How It Works | Flexible and Tailored
For 6 weeks WPAA-TV has additional staffing to support two concurrent youth initiatives.
Workforce Alliance Summer Employment: Youth that apply through Wallingford Youth & Social Services for summer jobs. There are criteria to qualify. If accepted youth are paid minimum wage. We made 6 to 8 slots available. We have been a host site since 2014. As employees, we will have rigorous expectations of engagement. Youth in this track are expected to participate all 3 days from 10-4 and one evening. The tentative evening date is July 23rd. WPAA-TV has no role in youth selection or who is assigned to us. We encourage youth to ask for our program if they have an interest in media production or advocacy.
TeenTigerTV Skills Development: (Updaid) The same 3 days of training and support are available to all High school-age youth in Wallingford. Some youth use our program to complete their High School Community Service. You must demonstrate a skill level before you can qualify for community service hours. Just showing up is not community service.
We encourage youth to consider entering the C-SPAN competition studentcam.org. Youth in this track can participate as much as they choose. The youth leaders will work out a plan for each participant based on their availability and goals. We encourage anyone interested to come on June 15th at 10 am. Bottomline: any local youth can drop in during these 6 weeks to join what is in progress and create a plan.
